Constitution Party
Michael Peroutka
Presidential Nominee
Chuck Baldwin
Vice Presidential Nominee
Peroutka has a long record of social conservative activism. He is pro-life (anti-abortion), pro-gun rights
(anti-gun control), and pro-religion, in the sense that he feels that the US Constitution was founded on Christianity
and that its interpretation needs a Christian filter. He opposed the US invasion of Iraq on the grounds that
Congress failed to follow the Constitution by declaring war. Specifically, Peroutka supports:
- Abolition of the ban on assault weapons
- A total ban on abortions
- A balanced budget
- Local control of education and the elimination of the Federal Department of Education
- The Bible as the sole determinant of the institution of marriage (i.e. he opposes both same sex marriage and any Constitutional amendment relating to marriage)
- Securing America's borders and deporting all illegal aliens
- Prayer in public schools
- Elimination of income taxes and the Internal Revenue Service
- Use of the American military only "to repel the invasion at our Southern border" and not to support the imperialist agenda of "Pax Americana"
- An immediate end to our involvement in Iraq,
- Legislation to prevent American courts from interfering with expressions of religious faith by government officials or others on public or private premises
